This is the second part of the Bugzilla to TFS Migrator blog series covering the installation of the migration tool for migration from Bugzilla to TFS 2013.
The Bugzilla to TFS Migrator tool is available for download from the link http://ecanarys.com/products/bugzilla-tfs-migrator on the Canarys website. Click on the “Click here to Download” button, provide the requisite information and download the migrator tool from the download link emailed to your email address.
Follow the below steps to install the migrator tool:
- Download the Bugzilla Migrator Tool and save it to the disk.
- Extract it using the Windows features or any unzip utilities to get the Bugzilla Migrator.exe.
- The Bugzilla Migrator executable is an installer. To start the installation, right-click on the exe file and choose Run as Administrator.
- Select the installation language and click Ok to continue.
- Accept the License Agreement and click Next.
- Select the checkbox to create a desktop icon for the Migrator tool and click Next.
- Under the Bugzilla Settings, provide the Bugzilla URL, Bugzilla Admin User Id. The Assigned To and the Bug Status field values can be left as it is. These values need to be changed only if you have customized the field names in Bugzilla.
Under the Migrator Settings, leave the settings as it is, if you plan to use the custom work item provided with the installer. If you have created a new customized work item or customized the default bug work item for the migration, provide the work item type name.
- Enter the MySQL and SQL Server Settings as per your current setup. The SQL Server setting is required for the creation of the intermediate tables used during the migration. It is suggested that you use the TFS SQL Server and point it to the collection database to which the project under migration belongs to. You may also use any other SQL Server or SQL Express instance for the purpose.
- Once the installation is completed, you can click Finish to close the window and optionally launch the migrator tool and the documentation.
