DevOpSmartBoard –Project Overview
In this blog we will discuss about Project Dashboard. This view provides metrics about the Azure DevOps Selected Project.
The aim of the Project Dashboard is to show most required key metrics of the Project at one place. The dashboard view only the required key metrics and saves your time.
In the first section of the report, the tiles will display the total count of Work Items, Azure Repos, Pull-Requests, Build & Release Pipeline for the projects you selected and total number of Users in the selected project.
The next 2 sections are about “Work Items” and “Bug” Reports. The first one displays the work Items across selected projects based on the work item type. The report displays the trend for last 30 days, it provides the number of work item resent across projects based on the work item type.
In the second section of bug reports, they are 2 charts Open Bugs by Priority/Severity and Open Bugs by Project. The first provides metrics on how many bugs are there and categorized by severity, the second chart depicts open bugs by project wise and provides break-up by severity.
Also, you can see more details of the Bug report in tabular format by clicking on the charts.
Next section has trend chart which provides the build status and its count based ono the date range.
The chart displays the success and failure of builds and releases within a date range, typically set to 7 days. Hovering over the chart allows you to view specific details for each day, including build status and the count of succeeded, failed, not started, and cancelled builds and releases.
The pie chart depicts “Total Builds & Total Release” for selected projects.
In the final section, a pie chart will illustrate the total number of builds and releases within the last 7 days. The chart will differentiate based on the Status, allowing us to easily grasp the count of succeeded, failed, and no-result builds and releases. This visual representation simplifies understanding the overall performance and outcomes of the builds and releases during the specified period.
The first graph displays the Build Pipelines for the selected project, while the second graph shows the Release Pipelines for the same project. Both graphs offer valuable insights into which builds or releases are utilizing the most features of the Azure DevOps pipeline.
Clicking on the chart provides users with a detailed view of the builds or releases. For builds, the information displayed includes the build number, build definition, and the result, whether it succeeded or failed. This feature allows users to quickly access specific build-related details whenever needed.
Likewise, when you click on the chart related to releases, it will display detailed information about each release. This includes the release definition, release name, stages, project, and the release ID. This level of detail provides valuable insights into the specific release processes and allows users to grasp the entire release pipeline with clarity.
Interacting with the charts offers an easy way to get an overview and drill down into specific build or release data. This streamline monitoring and troubleshooting, contributing to more efficient project management.
The project dashboard is a powerful tool with visual representations of key metrics like active work items, bug status, build and release trends. It facilitates effective project monitoring and decision-making, ensuring progress and successful outcomes.
