Share

Reporting in Snyk makes issue tracking and resolution more efficient, aiding to effective security risk management.

Snyk Reports transcribes security data into actionable insights that help development and security teams work better together. They make it easy to:

  1. • Track developer adoption
  2. • Spot high-risk areas
  3. • Understand your overall security posture

Using Snyk reports can view detailed data across projects, which are scoped to the Snyk organization or group. The reports are high granularity in customization. So, we get the info, the way we need it.

Snyk Reports provide a comprehensive view of your application’s security posture. They help development security teams with prioritization, responsibility, and accountability. You can access reports via both the group view and the organization view in Snyk.

Snyk offers several report types, like Issues Detail Report, Issues Summary Report and Vulnerabilities Detail Report etc., each serving a unique purpose

Let’s explore

  1. Issues Detail Report

The ‘Issues Detail Report’ gives a comprehensive view of all the security issues across the Snyk-monitored projects. It is basically like a central dashboard for understanding what vulnerabilities exist at the given point of time, and which projects are affected, and how to fix them.

This report type not only lists the issues, but it breaks them down by Severity, Product and Type.

Help teams prioritize issues effectively. We can also customize which columns to display. This allows each team to focus on what’s relevant.

If we have a requirement for a report that provides a focused view of vulnerabilities, organized by their unique Snyk Problem ID, we can switch to the ‘Vulnerabilities Detail Report‘.

This grouping allows us to identify which vulnerabilities are most prevalent for both resolution and prevention use cases.

Issue Summary Report

The Issues Summary Report provides a clear view of how well the team is identifying and fixing security issues with Snyk. It highlights trends and shows where the biggest risks lie and helps measure the impact of remediation efforts.

With filters and visual charts, we can track progress over time, compare metrics across periods, and filter it down into specific projects or organizations. It’s a great way to understand what parameter has improved and what still needs to work.

Key Visuals graphs in Issue summary are

  • Exposure Window – Tracks how long vulnerabilities remain open, exposing aging risks.
  • Time to Resolve by Week – Measures fix speed, showing improvement over time.
  • Risk Breakdown – Snapshot of critical risks across projects for focused action.
  • Issues Identified and Resolved – “Burn-up” trend reveals backlog gaps.

These insights help teams act faster, reduce risk, and maintain a secure codebase—keeping security proactive and manageable.

Additionally, when we update a filter, the Snyk URL updates too. This lets you bookmark, copy, and share filtered views easily. We can export the report as a PDF or download it as a CSV.
