The Visual Studio Laser Pointer Extension brings a PowerPoint-like laser pointer experience directly into Visual Studio, making code walkthroughs clearer and more engaging.
Why We Built This:
While delivering internal sessions and customer demos, we noticed how easily audiences lose track of a regular mouse cursor—especially on dark themes or screen shares.
What we really needed was a simple way to guide attention, not zoom in and out or constantly re-explain where to look.
This extension does exactly that.
What It Does
- Replaces the default cursor with a high-visibility laser pointer
- Helps highlight specific lines or sections of code
- Keeps the audience focused during live demos and trainings
- Feels natural—just point and explain
- You can also customize the pointer’s color, size, and opacity, and toggle it on or off instantly when presenting.

Getting Started
Install it directly from Visual Studio:
- Open Extensions → Manage Extensions
- Search for Laser Pointer for Visual Studio
- Click Install and restart Visual Studio
- Enable it from Tools → Laser Pointer, and you’re ready to present.
