In 2024, Canarys earned Microsoft’s Advanced Specialization in DevOps with GitHub on Microsoft Azure. Since then, the way software is built has changed dramatically. AI-assisted coding has moved from experiment to everyday practice, and agent-driven development is quickly following. Microsoft’s program has evolved to match, and it is now the Agentic DevOps with Microsoft Azure and GitHub specialization.
We’re proud to share that we have renewed this specialization, and once again the independent audit concluded with zero action items.
What is a Microsoft specialization?
Microsoft specializations are among the most rigorous credentials available to its partners. They can’t be applied for or earned through sales volume. Instead, a partner must pass an independent, third-party audit that examines how it actually works.
The audit looks at the full lifecycle of a customer engagement: how a partner understands a customer’s environment, designs the right solution, delivers it, secures and governs it, validates it, and hands it over for ongoing operations. It also assesses the strength of the partner’s consulting practice and the certifications held by its people.
Most importantly, the audit is built on evidence. Claims must be backed by real customer projects, and a partner must meet every requirement in full to qualify.
Why this matters to us
Earning a specialization once is an achievement. Renewing it, with the same clean result, is a statement about consistency. It tells us that the way we work has held up under independent scrutiny, not just on one project or at one point in time, but as a practice.
The audit recognized the areas we have invested in over the years: a broad, end-to-end GitHub practice spanning GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, GitHub Advanced Security, GitHub Copilot, migrations, training, and managed services; a library of reusable assets and proprietary accelerators that help every engagement start from proven ground; enablement at scale, with 150+ GitHub Enterprise clients supported and 250,000+ developers trained; and a security-first approach that builds governance into every environment from day one.
Like every good audit, it also gave us ideas for refining our processes further, and we are building those into how we deliver. A specialization is a standard to keep raising, not a finish line.
What this means for our customers
Every organization is now working out how to move from traditional development to AI-assisted and agent-driven engineering. That shift involves far more than switching on a new tool. It touches source control, CI/CD, security, identity, cloud infrastructure, and, above all, how teams work.
